Gas Gauge not working
Gas Gauge not working
Hey,
Im 19 and new to this forum. I have been an owner of a 1986 300ZX for over a year now. My father had bought 2 300ZXs, one for him and one for me as project cars. I have gotten far to almost having the car ready to be inspected and insured but one of my problems is the Gas Gauge doesnt work. I ran the diagnostics on the digital dash and all the lights for the gauge works, and i just had also replaced the sensor in the tank with a tested used on. I even used a voltmeter to make sure it was sending readings. I was wondering what else it could be before i assume that the wires and connectors are bad and then tear up the interior to replace them. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

A tested used one? Ummm... Was it also from a car with a digital dash? Also, these things fail all the time. Hence the reason you have to replace it. And with them failing all the time, the likelihood of you getting one that will last any length of time is slim. Just buy a new one. And don't be surprised when you see they look different. There is a reason they look different. The old ones fail. The new ones don't.
well im in college out of state so i don't have the car with me and it is still a problem since i left.
and i will try buying a new sensor and see if that works, and hopefully that the problem.
Thanks for the input.
