Well. so far since last wensday. I've put 634 miles on the donor engine i've installed. damn thing runs great. today i put a muffler on it. sounds all quite now. but i'm movin into the city so i had to muffle her. Test drove it. great. while idling, i turned the sound system on. once again sounded great. till my volt meter shot down to 6 volts. and my engine bay caught on fire. so....... 10 guage wire does not work for Alternators. fried that wire good. melted everything including the fuse block. the fuse(50 amp) did not blow(lil fcker) so i replaced the burnt wire, not much left of it, and the other wires that were near it that melted just cause they were close enough to the red hot wire to have there instlation melted off. now a new fuse block with a 30amp fuse. and 4 feet of 4 guage battery wire is installed from alt to fuse to battery and seems to be doing the trick. lession learned, 10 guage wire is NOT bigg enough. even though the factory wire looks 10 guage.(the wire that melted was not factory, but a replacement, none of the factory charging system was in the car at time of fire, the alt is rated at 60 amps.)
