Valve Adjustment

Yes I searched and I'm reading the FSM right now. And to be honest, I really wanted to avoid having to do this cuz I'm a little worried I may mess it up.

Anyways I just wanted to know what tools I will need beyond a set of feeler gauges.

Looking at it and taking a guess, It looks like I will need a 14mm open end wrench and an 18mm... crows foot? Is this right? I just want to make sure before I head out and buy the wrong tools lol

And a 10mm to get the valve cover off.
You dont really need a crows foot, Ive done it successfully a few times with two regular wrenches. I can't recall the sizes though.

Just follow the instructions carefully and one step at a time, and you will not mess anything up. It's a very easy task, you should be fine.

Well the crows foot is more to get the TQ down right. I know what the right TQ feels like on a wrench but I just like to make sure I have it right. Makes me worry less that somethings going to back out.

Ok I got it 14mm and 17mm crows foot, I was close! And I do a little write up on it but I found this http://www.picturetrail.com/sfx/album/view/1803105 Sticky maybe?

Write-up (clicky): https://www.zdriver.com/forums/240z-280zxt-s30-s130-tech-tips-275/aftermarket-cams-cam-removal-installation-pics-19939/

I guess the "full" write up is in the Haynes manual. I have that scan floating around ZDriver somewhere too...

Here's the thread w/ Haynes scans: https://www.zdriver.com/forums/showt...t=valve+adjust

The only extra "trick" that the Haynes manual doesn't cover, is when adjusting hot, loosen all rockers at once & then adjust them. It saves some time & that means the metal will still be warm when you adjust.

I like what I found in the site I found, the "fit, no-fit" method Downside is, is that I have the right sizes but not the next size up...

Basically you try to the one size bigger measurement, and if it fits, you tighten it till it doesnt but the right size does.
