Anyone recommend a Brand for a replacement turbo for my 83zxt. I dont have a money tree so i need something for around town and down the highway. I wont be racing anyone. Quality is my concern i dont want to have to replace it in 6 months or a years time. thanks

Well my mechanic told me that it was worn out and it was loose (stuck hand in and turbine would wiggle)
I had my engine rebuilt and installed a rebuilt head. My turbo is worn i guess plus i remember when i would drive it there was a few times i would see some white smoke coming from that area.
Thanks again. you always have been a big help Nismopick

The cheapest solution would be to find another stock used one in good condition. They usually go for ~$100-$200.
Next cheapest (safest solution) is to get your stock one rebuilt at a professional turbo shop for ~$350.
Any "upgraded turbo" will also require a few modifications to make it fit, and fuel delivery adjustment / compensation.
If you decide to buy a new turbo, DO NOT BUY A CHEAP EBAY ONE. They have a proven track record of imploding fairly quickly. Stick to name brand.

I don't know off the top of my head... somewhere I have posted the actual Garrett T3 model# of the 280zx turbocharger.
But you'd only buy that kit if you were going to rebuild it yourself... if you take it to a shop they will have the proper rebuild kit, and they probably wouldn't just let you bring your own kit that you "bought online".
