now the cruise comes on, but it wont set. checked all the lines, i wacked the cruise control components and it wont come back.

ar there any little electrical boxes for the cruise any where?

When you say you "checked the lines", are you talking about all the vacuum lines? This problem is common to a cracked vac line. But yes... all the controls for CC are under the passenger seat.

did you find any clear yellow pieces of plastic on your floor board arond your pedals lately...

they are little things that look like short nails its these little stopers for the brake pedal light switch but you have one on your gas and clutch too they get old crack and fall out... this happened to me when i was leaving school and my brake lights wouldnt go off... quite halarious.. works the same for the switches that turns off the cruise system

Did you ever swap your speedo by chance? The cruise runs off the hallman (sp?) sensor on the back of the speedometer to set the cruise. If that's missing, it won't work.

i did have to unhook the speedo cable a little while ago, wheres this sensor at exactly on the back? would i have to take it out to get to it?

i havent had to take the speedo out i just needed the intermediate cable out of the way when i was taking the security system out. plus theres no need to swap i already have a 120mph speedo

The speed sensor is on the back of the speedo. And yes... you should probably check the connection you messed with (Wedding Singer quote: "That information would have been useful YESTERDAY!")

The sensor, depending on the year, looks like a black bar which runs across the back of the speedo, or a small, black plastic piece with two metal tips hovering over the back of the speedo.

Easy way to tell if they are working if you have the betty box is to pull the e-brake up enough to just get the light to come on, and drive more than 5 mph (from a dead stop though) to see if the lady tells you your parking brake is on.

no its been kinda on the back burner since i am not going to be driving it up to washington and then this other problem arose.....

it doesent hold a steady idle, i mean its pretty steady but.....

the easiest way to explain it is when its idling and its up to temp it goes BUMP alot through the exhaust (you can hear it else where just easier to explain) makes it sound un steady, i've pryed the AFM apart to check and see whats going on, everything is fine and air temp resistance is good for the temp that was out today. thought it might be timing, timing is dead on makes no difference weither its retarded or advanced at all. TPS guts look fine, not much to go wrong since its a TP Switch and not a TP Sensor. no vaccumleaks still, thought it might be weak spark (cause it has a weak spark to begin with) stick a new Blaster 2 coil in it and no difference.....except it doesent smell as rich any more.

basicly the only thing i havent done is the water temp and i bet thats it, the CHTS fixed this on my maxima and since its the same thing in a different spot i'll give it a shot. and its not like i am just throing money at it, i needed a new coil any way.
