signs of cold start going out ?

i was curious because the pass few days Ive experiences this in the morning. So as i start the engine it takes time to kick over and when it does kick over it acts if it doesnt have enough fuel and gives a sound of wanting to give out . when i adjust the idle on the car at a higher rpm its runs fine afterwards then during the day after its been running for awhile i re-adjust it back to 700rpms and runs fine as well ? also its a 79 280zx n/a 3speed auto. ps is it called " cold start injector " or "cold start valve" sorry trying to learn the part names to give a better understanding

Hard starting can mean low fuel pressure. Have you checked the fuel pressure?
Have you done the cold start / thermotime switch tests outlined in the FSM?

#1: Download the FSM: XenonS130 - S130 Reference

#2: Obtain a fuel pressure gauge (most auto parts stores rent / sell them).

Wow. Advance Auto Parts have them for less than $20. Don't know if there are any of their stores up your way though.
