I cant find my manual. I need to know which relays are which in the box under the hood and in the dash.
my 1980 280zx is cranking but not starting. It is getting spark. I was able to start it once with the smaller (fuel pump i thought) relay from the dash removed, oil pressure was good when the car started but it sputtered out after about 15 seconds.
I can not find a replacement relay to save my life.
should I check to see if the fuel pump is getting power, in which case which is the positive lead to the pump?

Yes... you should. And to test it you don't really need to know polarity... you are just looking for any power. And the only diff between the fuel pump relay and the others, is the color.

As for the underhood relay box, see pic:

PS... if you don't have a fuel pump relay installed... the car won't start.

 

Thanks for the help, ill check for power to the pump tomorrow morning and see how that goes. As for the relays, none of my relays are any color but metal. There are three relays in the dash as well, which are also all metal without color. The smallest of the one in the dash was the one removed when the car started for a short amount of time. Any chance you know what those are. Thanks in advance,
