Well I'll only know once I fix the leak and add more coolant lol. I was thinking of just bypassing the core and using normal water for a bit to test for cracks/leaks/ect.

I put a new speedometer in and it STILL reads 10 miles off.... What the... I change the transmission but I didn't change the speedo gear as I didn't think I had to. The other Z hard an R200 with 3.9s in it. Same as mine. Hmm And its reading 10mph FAST. Oh and my Cruise quit working too wtf...

You have a 3.9 in it right now? What color is the speedo cog in the tranny?

As for the CC, it just runs on vacuum, relays, and the speed sensor.

No idea I have got under it to look. And I know. I think the speed sensor is broke in this new speedometer i used... Oh well I gotta take my dash back apart anyways and put the heater core assembly back in the car so the AC will actually come out the vents lol

Dude...what are you talking about? What does ambient temp water, have to do with overheating an engine? I said if you overheat it, and don't catch it in time. You can damage your cylinder head. It has happened to me twice. So think, before you say something, that doesn't pertain to what I said. Thank you.

the second part doesn't pertain to you, I was answering the OP's question, hence why I said "Blue" at the beginning, it's short for "BlueKitsune" in case you couldn't figure that out.

Well the point is. Its BAD to overheat an engine and it CAN be back to put COLD water in a HOT motor. I never said room temp water, I was talking about the ice cold stuff that comes out of the garden hose lol.

Uh anyways sense I need a new radiator, does anyone know where I can get a nice one, maybe aluminum without spending a small fortune? My old one has been better days thats for sure.

Autozone or Checker/Oriley for a radiator $149. $169something with tax... I was going to try an aluminium rad but decided I'd be cheap and go with a stock replacement...

Whats your timing at on your Z. Bumping up the timing may help with the power. And messing with the AFM may help a bit too.

Okay, I understand that part. And yes I know you were talking about Bluekitstune. What I didn't like, was how you mentioned, it was the stupidest thing you ever heard. When what you were referring to, I have experienced. And that irritated me a little bit.

In the future, be careful of what you say. And keep the insults to yourself. I don't like confrontation. But I don't like my knowledge ridiculed. When I know, what I am talking about. I have owned Z cars, for over 10 years now. And have learned a lot about them. But it doesn't mean, I am an expert. But I have learned a lot of useful things about them.

I thought you were allright in the beginning. But lately you have been a kind of a jerk. To put it mildly. Had to say that, because of the stupid remark. So let's move on, and leave it at that. cool?

Cleaning the heat core housing is a bit of a pain. I wonder if I'm gonna regret cleaning with with orange Armor all wipes XD I gotta clean the lower vents too. they still have that nasty coolant smell.

Anyone know how much it would cost to get a heater core checked/repaired VS getting a new one?

Um probably a dumb question but what is this coil that connects to the heater control valve for? And why is this damn valve so hard to find?

Still not 100% sure what the coil thing is for but I have a good guess. I put my vents all back together w/o the heater core in it. The vents dont stink like hell anymore! For now thats done.

I also figured out my powerless issue with the motor. I have the vac advance on the dizzy hooked up wrong. I forgot to run it off of manifold pressure

It's one of those forever Z car mysteries... No one really has a firm explanation on it, just a brief mention in the Haynes / FSM (IIRC). I believe it moves the water valve a bit more than the slider allows, depending on the temp in the heater core box. Apparently it's not super important, because the Nissan & aftermarket replacements don't include the hard line & coil these days.

Ya I noticed that. the FSM doesn't even say a thing about it. And I looked hard to find the exact replacement and its like $300. I'm going with the $40 replacement one lol

Hmm I'm having idle temp issues. Cruising around at just about any speed makes my gauge sit right dead centered. but Idling it bumps it up to just under 3/4 the way of the gauge. Its never done this before but I did noticed something new. my AC condenser? Its bent in and almost touching the radiator. could that be causing the issue?

I'm missing the top half of the fan shroud actually but even then it didn't do this before. And the coolant level is good.

Well no wonder why my speedometer reads wrong. The Z I took the transmission out of had a 3.70 diff in it! not a 3.90
