Purchasing advice

Ok so my 1980 280zx break booster has a rust hole and i found one used on ebay for $55 free shipping. It looks good but it says it has 235000 miles on it so what do yall think. Is it better to buy the rebuilt one from rockauto for $90 or go with this used one.

Go with the one that DOESN'T have a rust hole in it.

that answer was almost as bad as if you had answered me with another question. But at least it makes sense.

Sorry... that sounded rude. I tried to get a few posts in before leaving work.

For $55 you can get a used one, or for another $35 you can have a cleaned up, checked for leaks, reman. I'd go reman for peace of mind...

Reman

Nismo is right, go with the checked out part, an old dodgy part could just end up costing you twice. Also, many different parts can be swapped over and the braking system has many interchangeable parts, if I recall I recently read a nismo writeup about changing the master cylinder and booster on a s130 280zxt if I recall, so you might look that direction too.

yeah i was wondering if there is a thread for a break booster swap. Because the 280zx one is hard to find and only rock auto has them for less than $100. And also i found out it was the shaft in the middle of the break booster that was letting air out making it feel like the booster had a hole. The shaft is real crusty i guess that why it lets air out

I swapped an 82T booster into my 76 S30 (pics in post #24): https://www.zdriver.com/forums/240z-...c-heavy-30516/

The 280ZX has two booster versions: 79-81 and 82-83. One has the master mounts vertical, the other has them horizontal. So if you want to swap boosters, just make sure you use the master for it as well.
