Pics of my soon to be 1983 280zx
Allright quick update, before I crash for a few hours. The fuel tank swap was a success, and now I have something else under my belt. First time, I ever attempted this. It took me almost 5 hours, but I do not regret it. Anyway, getting sleep, then fuel, clean up contacts, connectors, and such. Check the fluids, fix the ignition switch. And give my "Smoke" a few turns. And hopefully I will hear it run. Will let you all know, as always.
Well I burned today, so tomorrow, I will commence. I need to play doctor with a girl, I have been seeing for the past month.
She is not feeling well, and I am bringing the pepto and sprite. So hopefully she can go with me to karoke tonight. So tomorrow, I will hopefuly get my Z to run. Will let you all know, and thanks for the comments, keep 'em coming.

Allright update for all of you. I went through, and cleaned the plugs, and connectors and such. And got to hear it crank pretty healthy, it is a start. So now I need to figure out if I am not getting, air, spark, or fuel. So that is the next thing I need to troubleshoot, and figure out.
Anyway I have a question for all of you. On the ECU, I noticed a yellow, with red stripe, and a black wire. That is unplugged from the ECU, is that important. And where does it exactly go? I am going to look it up in my manual. But if anybody, can give me some insight on this, that would be great.

I went over to her place, and she took some Sprite, well a short while later, we were going out the door. And off to Karoke, and we had fun as usual. Keeping my fan club happy, especially her. Anyway hope that explains it for you. And hey, what about that plug with the 2 wires on it? A yellow, with red stripe, and a solid black wire. Still need to know, if I need it for the ECU. Because that is what they are coming out of. So I can figure out how to get this Z started. So help me out guys, that would be great.
Wildman, i asked this months ago. Every one has this plug, But none of them are Ever hooked up. I would not worry about it. cause it really don't do nothing at all. My black car start's and runs with out this hooked up. And i have never seen it hooked up on any Z.
hey wildman is the black quite larger? as in the ground for the ecu? and the other wire might just be that sensor light wire thts supposed to be unplugged, usually things are supposed to be plugged in if the connectors match. id just plug the black one in first and try it, then the yellow with red stripe, it wont blow the ecu, it would more likely blow a fuse, or ust not work at all
umm, yeh. That bigg single wire is a ground. but those two small ones don't go to anything. Just wrap the two(they join to one connector) around somthing. But that bigg one Has to be pluged up.
Well I worked on the Z Friday, and I now know, it is not getting fuel. I got it to run on carb cleaner though. So now I need to figure out why it is not getting fuel. I took the fuel line off the fuel filter, cranked and nothing, dry as a bone. Yes the fuel pump is brand new, and you can hear it working. So I also know the relay is good, I think it is a clogged line, or something to that effect.
Ah... I just need to read better. Start at the source then.... pull off the pressurized side of the fuel pump line & see if there is fuel at the pump. And this might sound TOO simple, but are you sure you got the + and - wires to the pump bolted to the right poles?
Hmm.....Could be possible, I will check sometime this week in daylight. You may have something there bro' thanks. Will investigate, and let you know. That would be funny, if that is what is wrong with fuel delivery.
Okay well not much to update on my '83 yet. Been lazy lately, and don't like being ate up by mosquitos. I will probably tackle it again, this coming weekend. I really would like to get it runnning, but no big hurry considering, I have a great and reliable Z right now. Even though he leaks oil, and is running rich. Anyway will let all of you know, when I do more on my other Z.
Still nothing, not motivated right now. More worried about why my '82 runs rich. Sometime eventually I will get around to messing with the '83. Just not at this present time. I will keep you all updated, on it though.
