officially lost my mind!!

My issue has nothing to do with the dam chain. Cold the bastard runs great soon as it warms up I lose a cylinder. I used the intake that was original to the car. Not the intake from the motor that's in it now. The original motor did the same dam thing. So the only change I did was swap intakes. So it has to be a faulty injector? The knocking is detonation. So I need a ohm meter to inspect the injectors.

Did you already check the spark plugs and wires? Could be a short in a plug that happens after it gets warm.

Maybe it could be a valve as well?

New ngks and wires. For sanity sake I'm going to build new fuel rail to swap in to marrow with injectors that worked on my other engines.

If it still doesnt work you might want to check the sensors and ECU if you havent.

Thanks I'll check the valve adjustments as well. Before I changed the head gasket this was a ultra reliable z. I put everything exactly the way it was. So its a process of trial and error. I already changed out the amf . May be the computer try my spare.

A quick way to find out of its the engine is do a hot/cold compression test. That would tell you if a valve or rings are giving you issues. I'd do that then swap injectors and if its still giving you the issues check all your sensors and connections then swap the ECU.

If you cant fix it after that then something just hates you lol

Sounds more like a bad injector or a corroded connector on the injector.

Well changed the injectors and computer. Same results. The knocking was a bad bearing in the alternator changed that. Did notice swapping the computers fixed the issue for about a minute so its something stupid. Now the only thing left is my ignition coil condenser has a broke wire black going to the distributor. Should this be grounded to the body?

id be looking at the injector wires. there is a way to test the impedence from the fsm at the ecu. that would tell you if there is a bad wire. if its a 79 harness could be the dropping resistor over by the brake booster area.

I hang my head in shame. I had my pot head buddies hanging out in my garage when I replaced the head gasket. They helped hold down the tool box so it wouldn't float away. The semi mentally challenged pot head came over today. He wanted to tune up his truck and I noticed he ripped at the plug wires. Mother%#@*er he also helped take mine apart. Brand new wires I had on 2 days before the head went. Yup #4 was completely ripped apart inside the boot. Why I had a dead cylinder spent weeks swapping ****. Mother$#@&etc!!!!

Plus side the pot heads gave me a brand new set of MTX 10s in a box with a 1000 watt pioneer amp. Eh what ya going to do lol

Lol I really think there's something to this karma stuff. 31 year old pizza delivery driver married to a hot regional branch manager for a large bank. Just drives around in a 98 Camero z 28 blairing David Allen coe. Living life like cheech n chong. Sadly my lil woman assaulted me after I brought up the idea of me joining him lmao
