If gas prices are going up, why arent oil prices going up? I thought gasoline was made rom oil?

It is going up... just not at the same rate as gas. Motor oil lasts longer, and is recyclable... hence the slower price hike.

I remember when AutoZone / Napa sold 10W-30 oil for $.89/quart a couple years ago. $1.79 is the cheapest I can find now.

i use synthetics. also you need to create gas, its refinery process is much more difficult compare to just motor oil

amen jason----sailor jason----navy????

thankyou sportbike mike...(bows each of 4 directions to get all views)

the refining process for motor oils is nearly as complex as for gas an ddiesel and kerosene----motor oil only comes closer to the bottom of the catalytic cracker ---tower in which these fuels are refined.more viscous and heavir=er fluids are bottom---motor oil and then diesel and kerosene then grades of gasoline.............my dad was a petroleum products specialist for dupnt for many years......too bad i could not get a discount!!!!! in the 50's and 60's dad was listening to the oil companies gripe about how their profits wuill drop to near zero if alternative fuels were allowed to be introduced----well----what's stopping us????????get to work, boys......you are young and strong and smatrtsss asses......concentrate that smarts into gas alternatives that work!!!!!........

but they are considered the wastes actually to creating gasoline since its more readily used. so it should be cheaper, but if you think about it, 1qrt is 4 bucks.

just to let you know im just about supporting a family of 4. i buy their food, clothes, gas, and make sure they have a place to live. i make sure all of them get to work and school on time i might add. and that all of there needs are met right now im trying to get them a place to live but it's hard with my income but i found a small 2 br condo for 950 monthly. and am shooting for that. but other than that i have pretty much no responsibility or expenses. just you let you know z-hag.

she's tried and im not asking you to understand because you were born with a silver spoon in your mouth. plus i feel like by helping her that it's like helping my mom who struggled to make me and my brother happy. she is gone and will never come back but i know i can change this families future by helping them out the way nobody ever helped my mom, so take it as you want but i feel strongly on this subject so if you have anything negative to say please keep it to yourself, that goes for all of you out there.
