Engines are expensive, right?

I figure if I want an engine to put 600hp in the car, and be able to withstand a turbo kit and the amount of pressure I'll be putting on the car daily, I'm gonna have to spend a lot.

But seeing how you rebuted my statement, I take it I'm wrong?

First off: you're 18 right? How many 18 year olds can just go blow $100k on an engine?

Second: ok, you're new to cars / engines so I'll give ya the benefit of the doubt... GO BUY SOME ENGINE BUILDING BOOKS N START READING.

Haha, I don't plan to blow it on JUST the engine, that's friggin ridiculous.

I plan to blow it on everything. My budget for this entire car is __ that amount.

And the reason I've got that kind of money is cause I was fortunate enough to be raised in the kind of environment I was raised it.

Where can I find the books? amazon.com - barnesandnoble.com?

Well just do a lil research 1st with the ever so neglected search tool.you see that all you need to do is find a turbo parts car, pull the engine and everything else needed, have it built by a shop to make around 300hp ( a realistic goal with these engines) and installed by someone who knows what they are doing and you'll be set. I mean with 10k you could do that. the rest just save and do it all again to another Z just in a different color. With your unlimited funds you could have a few Z's in the stable for what you estimated to spend on one.

I would go with a rb26 if that is your spending limit. Do you know what a Skyline is?

Awesome, thanks a lot.

So it comes with a twin turbo you say? So I don't have to buy a turbo kit?

No worries dude. Were just a lil weary of, well, lets just say "situations" like this. If you got the cash, by all means make the sickest Z out there. The people here have many ideas and set ups that we all can only dream of implementing due to financial inabilities and will inform you on how to go about doing it all. Tons of info and people willing to share just gotta go about it right. Comprende?

There are 4.2 trillion engine design web pages too...

Just to bring you back to reality:

Cost of building a wild L28ET engine: $5k-$10k
Heavy duty transmission/driveline: $2k-$4k
Basic body work: $2k-$6k
-If the car is thrashed: total rebuild of the body: $7k-$10k
Loud *** stereo system (gotta have it since you're a teenager right?) $2k
Blingin rims/tires: $2k

Max spending: about $35k.... if anyone spends more than that on a 240z-280zx, they're retarded.

well veritas, sorry to heard you brought up with a silver spoon inside you, if you have the funds, get somone to build the car for you, or if your going to do it your self use the search function button at the top of the main page, and start reading, a place called msa has lots of good reading material on z cars, including the stock block big power makers. if you plan on using the rb26dett, you may want to talk to some knowledgable people at hybridz, only problem is you really gotta do you homework there, or you get a hot stick up the @$$. and yes the rb26dett came in the later model of skyline, and the engines are very expensive to build run and maintain. the have a bearing problem from what i have heard from my contacts, best get the single turbo smaller version from 92 i think and save some coin and the headache.

Transmission is the gear box... transfers power from the engine to the driveline.

Ecu... Engine (electronic) Control Unit... it controls the fuel injection & sensors.

Brand of what? Gum? I personally like to chew Double Mint while driving... gives a refreshing feel.
