My Z is running better!!

Oh yeah, I finally got around to putting the test pipe in place of my gutted catilytic convertor. And wow what a friggin' difference! My Z has better pickup, and is louder than before. I can't believe the power loss, I had with the gutted cat on there. I had no idea, it would make that much of a difference. But man was I wrong on that one.

I also retightened my oil pan bolts. They were loose, and I noticed heavy oil spots toward the front of the motor, at the bottom. I am crossing my fingers, that is not the front seal. And it is just because the pan bolts were not tight enough. Maybe after so many miles, the gasket set in that, it needed to be retightened. I hope anyway.

I also investigated my e-brake, and found out that only the right rear wheel was hooked up. And it was sticking, so I am not using the e-brake, until I get a new one. It looks like the left rear wheel hookup cable broke off. I guess anyway, not sure. Well there you have it, I am glad, I finally changed out the test pipe, what a difference.!

Werd! Sounds like ya got a lot accomplished today. The 280zx e-brake cable is somewhat prone to freezing up. Sometimes you can free it up by spraying some penetrating oil in each end & move it back and forth... but sometimes ya just gotta replace it.

good to hear wildman, like the new sig pic too, those wheels look dope. i had to lube the ebrake cable too, they want 240 bucks a side up here in canada, so i chose a hour of my time and some penitrating oil, good as new. and yeah, having a catalitic is not great for power, if you get a high flow one its o.k, but they usually dont get you thru the check. best to have a test pipe like you do and change it out when needed.

i did that to my chitty luv truk in 1979--the truk was a 1975, stuk cat--the convertor was still on the car--the pipe went stroight thru it!!!!

BIG difference--i liked to keep the pipe because of the occasional visual inspection.

stuck cats donot only hurt performance--they cut years off the life of the engine
