if your not going to run the mechanical pump just put a block off plate there and toss that POS pump.
and you shouldn't put RTV on any gaskets except around water passages. getting RTV into your fuel line or oiling system is bad news.

I only use RTV (and only a little) on the thermostat housing, the water pump, the water passages in the front cover and the the coolant outlet.

dont build L's like small block chevys

you should just make/buy a block off plate, itl save you a ton of headache with that pump your not going to use anyway.

I have a block off plate! Its my power steering pump mount lol. and the RTV is only used on the shitty fuel pump which actually worked XD The engine is running! But the engine as show its true colors. It looks about toast... smoking blue smoke like mad a strange knock (atm I cant tell if its the open exhaust or not...) and it feels like its running on 3 cylinders (im voting carb problems)

I knew they would get worn but I didnt know they would smoke...

I think Im gonna take the engine out and take it back to PNP for my $200 of instore credit. Im sick of this and its making me very sick with the flumes of blue and white and very rich running smoke

You can try and talk to the guy (Monty) at Miles Unlimited while you are in Salt Lake. He has a bunch of 280ZX with motors and all (complete cars). You may be able to talk him into letting a beat up one go for a reasonable price. He is a cool guy, but very grumpy and you will have to put up with it in order to work him
He'd be more willing to sell you the whole car instead of just parts, cause he's "not a parts yard." just a warning there...
