OK, Need some help with some stuff
Ok, now that I have the car back and in action, I want to make sure that I do all my preventive maintenance work. Here is a list of everything I want to get done, I just need to know what I need to buy, and see if I can get some help from someone a little more technically inclined under the hood. (I want to learn to start doing my own stuff, just want someone there to supervise and help so I dont screw anything up
)
1. Brake pad change, and total brake flush: I have the Hawk pads sitting in the garage, just need to know what fluid, and how much fluid to grab.
2. Oil change. Ive been having the shop I go to use Castrol Syntec. How much oil do I need to buy, and what filter?
3. Total coolant flush: How much coolant, and what type is everyone throwing in there.
4. Spark plugs: Ive heard NGK is the way to go, but no one seems to stock them?
5. Clutch system flush: What fluid and how much. I had my clutch installed a few months ago, and just want to flush the system since the people at the dealership didnt do it.
6. Possible power steering flush
7. While everything else is begin accomplished, paint calipers
I would really like to do this on tuesday and/or wednesday because those are my days off, and would like it done before the ZCOU cruise on sunday. I have a jack, jackstands, air tools, and pretty much every tool I can think of (Dont know if I have an oil filter wrench). I would buy pizza and put in on beer (Since I'm not 21 LOL) Also can smoke some hookah and whatever else.

Mmmmmmm hookah....
1. Not really needed, but any DOT 3 or DOT 4 fluid works. If you want to go to the track eventually though, I would buy some Motul RBF600 from American Racing Supply here in town. Two bottles should be enough, but I would buy 3 just in case.
2. 6 quarts.
3. I don't know how much coolant, I would thing just one bottle of Prestone Anti-Freeze would work well then you fill the rest with distilled water.
4. No clue on this one.
5. Don't know on this one either.
6. Not needed.
7. This should be done when you do the brake pads since you have to remove the calipers to change them anyway.

1) I'd go with Motul. Go with DOT 5.1 if you can find it. Don't use DOT 5, it's silicone based and doesn't mix with DOT 3,4, or 5.1. Get 3 bottles. As long as it's unopened, you can always return one if you don't need it.
2) Mike says 6 quarts, but I've never been able to get more than 5 in mine. For the filter, use a Nissan filter and make sure you get a new copper crush washer for the drain plug.
3) Coolant uses 2 gallons. Get one gallon of Prestone yellow long-life coolant (not the green or orange stuff) and one gallon of distilled water alaong with a bottle of Redline Water-Wetter or Royal Purple Purple Ice.
4) Most Checker's stock NGK. What type do you want? The standard V-Power plug is LFR5A-11. The Iridiums are LFR5AIX-11.
5) In the clutch, use the same fluid as your brakes.
6) Only necessary if you've been autocrossing alot. In a street car, I wouldn't worry about this until you're pushing 1/4 million miles.
7) Gotta do mine to. Just basic black for me.

you may want ot check with the dealership and have them run an oil consumption test, or whatever they call it. There have been quite a few peeps getting their VQ relpaced because of this issue.

They only had 1 type of dot4 over there and it was a bunch more. I got the 6 little bottles so I could do the brake system and the clutch flush also. The Dot4 had a higher boiling point, but since I dont plan on tracking the car, I dont tihnk it would be necessary.
And as for the prestone, I'm pretty sure I did. It looked yellow in the picture and said it mixes with any color LOL.
