Can i drive without the power steering working or will it fry my pump?

If your pump isn't pumping because it's disconnected... it won't fry it.

You can leave the steering pump disconnected all you want... it's just harder to turn the car.

 

ok, sorry, need some clarification. the pump is not disconnected from anything, its just not getting power from the belt because the belt is off. Does this constitute as disconnected or do i need to pull some hoses and stuff?

 

woot got a new bearing turned out to be a 6203. got installed used some sockets and a rubber mallet. As well as a bench vice. now to get it back to the car

 

you can drive it with no belt on it, that's completely fine, it won't damage the pump. I did that for many months.

 

I disconnected my power steering belt a few months ago. I got tired of it leaking fluid all over in my engine bay. Now I really don't miss it. I can turn the car just fine. And even one handed at times while turning a corner.
