You know where the fuel rail bolts to the front of the block? The pulley that mounts with a bracket, that adjusts. There is a I believe a 13 or 14mm nut, that takes the pulley off. And then there is a 12mm nut that mounts it on the block I think. Don't quite remember, but maybe telling you the location. Is enough help. I will also see if I have a pic of an engine, to show you.

thanks wildman. Belt and pulleys are not really my specialty, they are one of the things i like doing least. Thanx for the info though, you rock. Been reading your stories for a while, and definetly feel your pain, just when you think you get the car running sweet, Bam, something else goes with it. Oh well, life goes on.

Hey no problem man. And thanks you ROCK to bro'. And we both have been through a lot on our Z's. As for the pulley, if you want to get the belt off. There is an adjuster nut on the bracket, which the pulley attaches to. Loosen the pulley enough to move it. Don't take the nut off all the way. And then loosen the adjuster nut on the bracket. Then move the pulley in the direction, that will loosen the belt. And woila, belt if off, and now you can take the pulley off fairly easily.

oh, dont worry, the belt and everything is off already. The only thing that is still in one piece on the car is the block, which havent taken out yet. I am donating this pully off my blown motor, since someone was nice enough to donate a motor to my cause, i figure why not repay the favor, be it small, but still, its a karma thing. Thanks for the info though, i remeber taking that pully and adjuster off when i did the new timing chain, but for the life of me i didnt know that that was the idler pully, i know where the belts go, but, just didnt know the names of the pulleys. But thanks, this way i know which one this guy wants.

Right on man, that's cool. I just like to share the little knowledge I have. And when it helps somebody out. It was way worth it. I am no expert, but I have learned quite a bit. With my Z project, and still a long way to go. As I am sure you have also learned a lot of stuff. With your trials, and ordeals, frustrations. etc... That is what this great website is about. Everybody helping each other. And scratching each other's backs.

Right on wildman, didnt want to come off sounding like a smart ***. I know thats why i usually dont post too much on this, dont have all the answers. But, like you, i have learned a lot from having to work on the z all the time. Its great when it runs and works, but man, is it ever the bitch when it wants to be too.

Well, you have to pay to play i guess. Go big or go home.
