the turbo swap would be a lot cheaper and a lot easier to do.. just pick up a l28ET from a junk yard with the harness and ECU and jsut drop it in. ive seen the engine and harness with ECU go for as cheap as $250 out here in my area..

Is the L28ET a better engine then VG30DET? I have heard that Inline are better...and well 250 is damn cheap...Im also just curious.

The inline is cheaper and easier to upgrade and maintain. One camshaft, one driveshaft. They are so much easier to work on yourself, and that's a fact. They have a timing chain which lasts longer and is less liable to break. The VG30 uses a timing belt. The L28 gets a lot better gas milage than the VG30 accross all applications. (Maxima, truck, 300ZX) The VG30 starts out with a little more horsepower and torque but I've heard is a bit harder to get it to output a lot more with modifications besides turbo. I don't know why though.

The VG30 takes up a lot less engine compartment space, and that's why most manufactures use V engines, not inline engines.

I've done a l28ET swap as well as the a/t to manual swap... I would reccomend that you pull the tranny out along with the engine. It's easier to bolt the engine up to the tranny *before* it's in the car, then simply slide it all back in there...

hey, I'll tell you what: does yours run as it sits? I'll trade you straight across for my '82 ZX that's already got a chevy305 in it. It's not completed yet. I ran out of money. The engine is mounted in along with the tranny. I took care of the hard part. You might want to keep your front air dam and all the interior unless yer gonna redo it as mine's all stripped and ready for a complete makeover. I just ain't got the money to finish it right now. It needs an alternator, belts, a driveline, and an exhaust system to make it run/move.

about $300 will finish the mechanical job, then you can trick out the body and interior... or whatever. let me kno.
