How much body work / grinding / welding / body filler experience do you have as of right now?

Then I'd suggest using a spare parts car to learn on. No sense in screwing up your own car.

Or take it to a body shop.

If you're good at picking up on stuff and can actually learn from your own mistakes and realize when you're doing something wrong without someone telling you then it's really not that difficult. The problem most people have with body work is not being able to resist the urge to cut corners. Body work, unless you're a professional with X amount of years under your belt, is a practice in patience and perserverance. It's not for everybody. Even if you've got the touch you've got to have the will power to stick with it and do it right. Rust is the worst. If there is even the slightest hint of rust left after a clean up job it WILL come back to haunt you. So make sure you get it all.

If the rust spot goes into or under the window seal, pull the window out to. It can and will go under window seals.

We had a small amount of rust on top by the crome strip that covers the windshield edge. I removed the trim and found that it went down furthor than I thought. The problem with rust it's like an iceburg you can only see a small portion. If you have a small grinding tool (dramal hand grinder) you can grind a little to see how far it has gone. However, like jfairladyz said, if you don't get all the rust it just comes back with a vengence. Good luck
