Has anyone tried '01 Cougar seats in a 280zx?

I have an opportunity to pick up a pair of front seats for a great price. The seats are out of an '01 Mercury Cougar. Gray leather seats in excellent shape.

The seats themselves measure the same as the ones in my Z. I'm not excited about the idea of doing a whole lot of fabrication to put them in, but modifying the rails or putting the 280 rails on the seats should be doable.

Has anyone had any experience with these seats?

I haven't but I've had seat mounts made up to fit different rails on E-Bay seats. A little work but it's worth the effort to replace the sofa couch stock seats...

Just installed 94 Mint BMW leather seats. They were on aftermarket 240 rails lmao the key is the brace on the floor .I drilled and bolted the fronts down then driiled through the rear pan support where the welded studs are.used old manifold studs to bolt. The geometry is key for track movement and mic handles. Class 5 bitch and im a machinist!!!! Save and buy aftermarket seats MADE to fit your car. I will post pics when i get my door panels done. Lmao not sure if i should wire the butt warmers up ? It came from a wrecked 240 junkyard thought they were factory.

Smile I think it's going to be doable.

I think it's going to be doable. I sat down with a pencil, a ruler and a piece of wood I could use to mark up the differences last night and I believe I can do this using the Cougar's rails. My next step is to mock it up using aluminum bar stock. If the mock up works out I'll make the foreward mount-adapters out of steel - the stock rear mounts should line up pretty well.

When I get it done I'll post each step with pics and measurements.
