300z or cougar
im interested in buying either a 99+ mercury v6 cougar MTX or finding myself a 90-96 300z
now Im wondering ups and downs from your guy's point of view, i mean the car is in the same price range for me 5-7k witch is great, im not expecting to find a perfect car for this price, im expecting body flaws and higher millage.
Whats somthing I should look for, I noticed another post but it was awnserless...
Ive seen to check out all kinds of stuff but again its all from you guys, I really like this car. I see one drive past me every day as it goes down my street. Damn woman uses it like you would a sedan...
I plan to go totl as much as my budget allows me 2.. I mean if i go cougar its FWD v6 with basics and MUCH later plans for turbos and higher end mods.
but I like driving a RWD car, I drove a camero for a long time a learned on a 3.0 tarus and a modded out stang..
I guess what im really asking, is the car worth it? i mean is it basicly new Vs. old
and how much work am I in for on keeping this car Drivable, I plan on driving to indiana (im in TX) a few months after purchassing it. so its gota be able to take it...
PLUS: in my area there is a 300zx 2+2(what does this mean?) with everything but the engine, I mean all of it... and I can get a 30-40k JDM VG30DE-TT engine for a great price, what would the AVERAGE engine install be? I know its a newbie question, and thats because... Im a newb... so it be a great help! Im not like buying it TOMARROW rather in a few months after Webdesign gets me some cash..
ill check back here some time later, anything you can offer would be awesome...

Well I cant tell you how much it will cost to get the motor installed I do my own work hopfully somone here can tell you. 2+2 means its a 4 person car suposedly I think that the Z would be funner to drive The couger is a very nice car! Do you want nice or do you want perfection?

The Z is your only option
The 2+2 Model refers to the 300ZX with 2 small backseats, as opposed to the Coupe which only has 2 front seats. I think that you should go with a 300ZX over a mercury cougar. For starters, it's japanese and will last a hell of a lot longer.. Secondly, a lot of people with 300ZX like to take care of their cars, so it will most likely be in good condition. Now, with your question on doing a TT conversion with the vg30dett, it's not easy and isn't a quick job. You need all new piping, a lot of new hoses, some fabrication work and a hell of a lot of experience with doing the conversion. Some people it takes up to a year, so I hope you can afford the down time. What I would do is find a nice 300ZX non-turbo in good condition with somewhat low miles, get used to the car and then if you decide you want more power, sell it and get a TT>. these things go like hotcakes so it wouldnt be too tough to sell. I have a 300ZX Slicktop for sale right now in perfect condition.. http://www.angelfire.com/darkside/mike0r/z32.html if you want more info.. but anyway, go for the 300ZX, you'll kick yourself in the *** in the long run if you dont

im not trying to hate or be obnoxious in any way, but why either a Z or a Cougar. I mean theyre both good cars (Z is better ) but why those two? what about 240s or camaros or MR2s or even a stang? im just curious. do you know guys who are selling them?
