ECU/Computer Codes
Does anyone know where I can get the diagnostics codes for my 1982 280ZX ECU/Computer? My engine will spontaneously die while driving down the road. No sputtering, no warning. The tach drops to 0 RPMs (even though it's still in gear) and I have to coast until I find a place to pull over. I let it sit for a couple minutes along side the road, crank it over, and it runs like nothing ever happened...until it spontaneously dies again.
The green light on the bottom of the ECU flashes a sequence but I'm not sure how many flashes means what. Thanks.

your problem sounds like your ignition modual.. its located on the side of your distributer.. it a lil black plastic box....when they go bad your car will just die for no reason... i changed mine a few years back..

sudden death
One of two things, Ignition module or fuel pump.
Either will cost you dearly, the last fuel pump I purchased was $225.00 and the Ignition module was $235.00.
If the pum won't have fuel pump is going out you won't have pressure when it stalls (loosen the fuel line CAREFULLY)
If its the Ignition module you won't have spark.
Don't waste your time replacing the coil unless its leaking oil, I have only seen two faulty coils in the last thirty years.
