distributor conversion

I am going to rebuild a 81 turbo motor, and I have been reading that
the CAS on the 81 is not very good and that a swap to the 82/83 turbo
distributor setup is better. I want to do this but have no idea how to perform the swap. Has anyone done this and if so could you tell me how?

thanks,

VernonZ

Just need the 82-83 distrib & the oil pump/distrib drive shaft. I believe the harness plug is the same for both.

-One thing I'm not sure about, is if the 82-83 ecu is needed... The 81 cas might send a diff signal than the 82-83.

I know that on a 81, the ING Control box mounted on the side is Diff then the 83. 81 has the one 2 wire plug on top. 83 has on top, and on side

We're talking about the turbo model... the ignition module for the turbo is located on the coil bracket, not distrib.

The 81's CAS is probably more accurate then the later in-the-dizzy setup (if it's setup properly). Having the CAS in the dizzy means whatever play there is in the dizzy and its drive gear is going to transfer to the CAS.
