differential gear oil

differential gear oil

could somebody explain to me how to drain the differential gear oil out of my diff? im kind of confused as how to do it. this is my first z so i dont want to screw it up. by the way i have the R180 type with the automatic 3 speed.

Remove lower drain plug, drain fluid, install plug, remove upper plug, fill up, reinstall plug.

Very simple procedure really, there should be two plugs on the rear cover of your diff. the top one is for filling it up. the bottom one is for draining. just get a drain pan, a couple quarts of your pick of diff fluid(usually 80w90 or thicker if its got lots of miles). the toughest part is breaking those plugs loose. be sure to clean the gunk out of the plug before breaking it loose as to not slip or strip it out.
