Died in flight... no Z show this year
So, at 90mph in the pouring rain, early Sunday morning... Right rear brake caliper locked up. It was all I could do to keep the car pointed in a straight line long enough to get off the freeway. Made it about half way to the MSA show. I had to drop back and punt. Got it semi-freed up enough to limp it back home (probably destroyed one of my slotted rotors in the process). Needless to say, the wife and kids were surprised to see me home so early. So, we loaded up the PT Cruiser and made it a family trip to the Z Show (Minus the Z). Oh well, I guess there is always next year.

I loved the primer apollo!?
So, as it turns out, it wasn't so much the caliper getting crazy on me as it was my left rear outer wheel bearing turning square in an instsant. Not sure why, but it was making the slots in the rotor knock into the pads... hence the earlier diagnosis. I just replaced all those bearings not six months ago. Anyway... All is good once again in Z land. I noticed that some of the nicsest Z's at the show yesterday, weren't in the show. A couple of the cars parked out on the street were nicer than anything in the show. There was a green second gen 300 convertible parked out there that was absolutly gorgeous. I'm kinda bummed out by the huge number of 350's that were there this year... I'm just not ******* them so much. THere's a guy with a second gen 300 with a license plate frame that reads "Last of the real Z cars". I thought that was pretty funny. Don't get me wrong, I like the 350, but it doesn't have some of the original mystique for me of the older cars. The only real nice 280zx's that were there this year were the 2 10th anniversary cars... one of which was a restore job.... I'm thinking that if mine had of made it up there, I'd have been driving home with a trophy. Oh well, like I said... next year. It gives me a whole year to make it even cooler!

Apollo, did you used to visit this site under another name?? The reason for asking is I talked to someone, I think from Oakland before, that had that same car (same as mine), but his was done after selling a VW Ghia overseas. Real nice work on the Z, too. Just wondering...
Thanks

thanks wildman and carl . . .
Well I originally found out about zdriver from an email I received after having my car stolen. I had posted on the local craigslist and was told about this forum as well as a few others. I started a thread but soon after found my Z and forgot about this forum. Then last year, I started a local Z group, East Bay Z's, where I met IcIce9 and he told me about Zdriver. I checked it out only to find I was already a member.
