My Z died again!!!
I was on the way home from church last night and my headlights got real dim until they finally died then on an uphill it started running REAL bad then went to like two cylinders and right as I pulled into a driveway the motor died, and during the last mile I turned off the last of the headlights and used my flashlight as a headlight on this road that is real twisty and has no streetlights. I eventually got my mom out there and used my jumper cables to put a little charge in my battery an I was able to make it home the last 2 miles. I have just replaced my power reguator and alternator about a month ago and it was charging great until about Monday. what could it be? I just installed a radio and speaker set but I do not think that could be the problem. Please give your advice to a disgusted zdriver, this is the second time my car has broken down in the last two weeks.

It sounds like you have something going straight to ground. This will drain you charging system fast. Do you get shock when you exit the car? I ran a second ground from the alternator to the block. I also went in and made aure my stereo wires were not making contact to anything.I recommend using heat shring ad solder. Just put the heat wrap on and move it away from the end of the wire. Twist the 2 ends togther. heat up the solder and mix into the wire. Then slide the heat shrink over and heat. It looks good and will not short out. Thats about all i can tell you.

My dad and I have soldered every connection but there is about 5 wires pulling off of the fuse box. When I build my baja bug I will do a bottom up redo of all the electronics, paint, new exhaust, suspension, and the rest of the junk that needs to be done. Right now I need it to driveable so I can get a job to pay for the rest of the z then the bug

Check the terminal connection

This could be as simple as a bad connection at the battery. I have had this happen on my 280
