Can't figure it out
Ran fine until I was coming into Atlanta and into traffic. Doing about 85 the whole way from Charlotte. Once I hit traffic, car stalled and wouldnt start again until it coole down, then ran for about an hour and stopped, then ran until I got back to base. I figure it was the fuel pump, so I changed it along with the filter. Since then, it has an extremely rough idle that bounces from about 100rpm to 500rpm, dies after drivng any distance, extremely rich on gas.
Checked all fuel and vacuum lines, no leaks to speak of. Double checked that the fuel pump I had was the one for the car, and it was. Had the car checked by the auto mechanics here on post, they couldnt figure it out. Any ideas???? Thanks!!

What brand and model fuel pump did you install?
Your first description makes me think the ignition module is going bad and is going out when it gets hot.
Your second description makes me think the fuel pump is running at too high a pressure and/or your fuel pressure regulator is going out.
Put the old fuel pump back in and see if it starts running with the correct mixture again, then run through the FSM procedure to test the ignition module on the side of the distributor.

Oh, Oh, Oh, I know, I know, Cylinder Head Temperature Sensor!!!!!! Did I get it? What do I win?
I had a problem with mine, since the keeper was missing the connector would vibrate loose. I always had to re-seat it to get the car started again. My first suspect would be the ignition module since it seems to be heat related. Make sure you check all of the connections to the fore mentioned units too. Disconnect, reconnect, inspect the contacts. etc...

you know i have found a solution the the loose connector problem.
when you look into the plug it self you can kind of see where the metal makes a box and the 2 ends come together usually at the bottom in the middle. get a dentis pick or something skinny and pointy and some what sturdy and stick it below the connector and rock it foreward a little bit, it'll push the connector ends inwards putting pressure on the sensor/injector/ect side of the plug.
i had to do this with a few injectors, CHTS, MAF (another car), AAV and other things. i have had a few older and old cars.
