Tight fitted would be good no? Small hole? Small hose?

Trying to make sense of what you just said.

Maybe a picture? I think you're referring to maybe the hoses being too small for the fuel to be pumped through fast enough to be delivered to the engine? Or the clamp is not on the fitting, but on the hose, crushing it, not allowing fuel to be delivered to the engine?

What kind of adapter is it? Flashlight and a camera time!

If the hose is too small and restrictive it can cause starvation at higher demanding loads like WOT but it's unlikely it would keep it from starting.

If you got "small hoes" just ream them out!

Hey Wangan, your illustration is a lot worse than Nismo's. There is little diffrence that I can see with the location of components in Nismo's illustration and those of a straight 6. Your depiction of the evaporater is confusing. I'm intimately familiar with the evaporater location since I replaced at least a hundred of them back in the day when Datsun had a campaign replacing them because they all leaked.

*steps into the thread carefully*

ok... i DO have the FSM. I have looked through it but it isnt very clear on this. i am removing the a/c but would like to keep the heater in my 82 zx. (A/C AND t-tops? talk about redundant!)

i have removed the compressor, condenser, copper tubing, and the thing with the viewing window. (very technical, i know.) now i have 4 hoses coming out of the firewall, wide open to the world. (i also dont have an engine in there right now, as it is being machined)

my question is- how do i get heat, but no a/c in this car with those items removed, and an auto-climate control?

After all this time of working, building and fixing cars it's SSSSOOOOOOO much easier to try and fix the problem then trying to delete everything.

You actually have 6 hoses coming out of the firewall.
-Heater core coolant lines in & out
-A/C freon lines in & out
-Vent control vacuum lines (1 for manual, 2 for auto climate)

heh, I did the exact opposite. I took the compressor and condenser and lines off but left the lines that stick a little out of the firewall as I didn't really care much at all. Then once my heater core started leaking i decided I would rather yank that out than fix the one leaking hose. While I was in there I finally took the A/C lines out of there too. Honestly if you want to remove the A/C it's not gonna hurt anything to leave the unit under the dash, but if you really want it gone but you want to keep your heater core just take it out and fab up a simple bracket to keep the core in place (assuming it won't stay in on its own I don't remember what it looks like in there).

The heat will still work even though the A/C is not hooked up. My red car had no heat but the A/C still worked, and that was auto climate control as well. I don't see why one would stop the other from working. It will still be able to keep your car hot automatically, it just won't posses the equipment to make the car cool. It may still try to make cold air electronically if you were to set a cold temperature and just not be able to, but the car isn't gonna disable the climate control when it senses a problem or anything. Your heat will be fine (sorry if I worded that confusingly, I think it should make some sense though)

Vacuum is mainly for the automatic climate control system.... eg your venting which is controlled by vacuum relays, etc.

Just hook the vent vacuum line to the intake instead of the vacuum tank... most people who have no clue about Z's do that anyway. The only problem is when you are at full throttle, the vent ports will default back to defrost as there is no vacuum (gets annoying very quickly).

Keep the vacuum pump if you have the climate control or swap in the manual system...
