fuseable link help

what is the fuseable link amp rating on 280zx? ive read the fsm front to back mulitple times and its not there.

im wanting to update the link system in the z.
i was considering going to a agu block system LINK. http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-WAY-AGU-DISTRIBUTION-BLOCK-0-4-GAUGE-IN-4-8-GAUGE-OUT-5-FREE-50-AMP-FUSES-/370692450431?pt=US_Car_Audio_Video_Distribution_Blocks&hash=item564efde87f
if i am understanding the diagram right on the fsm page el-6
it would take a 6 port block

any thoughts or ideas if im wrong or right or if this will even work.

on EL6 (83 fsm) shows the fusible links. you need five circuits. 3 Brown, one green one black. 50 amps is probably way over any one particular circuit. keep in mind most of the wiring is 16 -18 awg with an occasional piece of 12 or 14. awg 12 can only take 20 amps. evrything else less. you could probably go to NAPA and they have fusible links with color and amp ratings. Do a google search on fusible links for more info.

Fusible Links do not have Amp ratings

This guy explains it fairly well " Originally Posted by snowakii View Post

Circuit breakers and fuses are not physicaly larger enough to prevent internal arching. The arch in this situation is capable of carrying high current. Hence the circuit is not fully opend fast enough. ... The result is a potential fire and having your battery cables welded to the frame.

FL's are longer and extinguish the arching much faster reducing the potential of fire. Also the arching that does exist in the length of the FL is longer and hence of higher resistence which reduces the current dramically even before the circuit is opened fully.

This topic seems to come up every couple of months and the physics still has not changed."

Makes a lot of sense when you thing about it, as ugly as they are, they have a real specific job to do, that a fuse can't duplicate. And there are a lot of Z's running around with fuse conversions, at least from what I picked up researching this. Our resident E.E. Fricfrac might want to chime in on this, if anyone he would have the clearest understanding of the risks in converting to fuses.

AtlanticZ has the 280Z fusible link ratings (I imagine they are the same or similar for the 280ZX).

Pink 30 amp
Green 40 amps 0.50mm˛
Red 50 amps 0.69mm˛
Yellow 60 amps
Black 80 amps 1.25mm˛
Blue 100 amps
