Cool Buried The Needle

Well coming back from my interview today for a job I crossed a long, flat bridge that is 2.5 miles long and got the car to peg the needle. It was fun and the turbo really pulls these cars at speed. At 80mph in 5th gear the tach is dead on 3,250rpm.

I hit 110 once...in a dodge caravan. It was kinda scary actually. In a car it's a lot better.

You know what helps alot, grab your self a buffer, or you can do it by hand if you want and some of the Maguire's ColorX or whatever it is, and some Wax to go with it. I got some micro fiber rubbing pads and started doing that, and man my paint started shining again, you could see reflections and the color was actually a nice red again. It was amazing the difference, that's why I got a buffer so I could do more of the car quicker.

dude, like i said, you whined about your power steering pump and almost sold the car over it, and you think your going to maintain a TT Z32. i owned an NA and that was difficult enough, when engine stuff went wrong anywho. also, i hit 150 in my z32 once, so :P and did 60 through this nuts twisties by my house, ill take a picture sometime. just sayin dude, you should get a tent aircompressor and paint gun and primer and learn that stuff. also a welder if you want. but i would hold off on the TT idea, it will drain your funding for anything.

I wonder why stuff breaks on people...I beat the **** out of my ZXT and I expect things to break...it's just the nature of things when you are hard on something, but so far it isn't the things I am beating on...stuff like water pumps and PS pumps are what breaks on me for now...no big deal. Sure, I will **** and moan about it but I will take care of it too. Now a Z32TT is a different story...when I decide to get one of those I won't just be getting it to go fast...though it will obviously be able too do that...people don't always think the 280's are fast so I drive it hard and prove them wrong. The Z32TT's, people know they are fast so there isn't much of a need to prove anything but I would like a car that in my mind is the definition of what a "Z" car is, performance, styling, comfort and more modern then my workhorse of a Z that my 280 is. I have recently had the chance to sit in one and really get a feel of the cockpit and I liked it alot. To me it has a nearly perfect layout, nice gauge cluster, A/C, a good platform for a stereo system...and the seats just rock.

With the money I am about to be making "fingers crossed" I will be able to buy a Z32TT and I will be just fine with the upkeep. The problem is going to be finding one with low miles that hasn't been basterdized all to hell and back...I have seen a few so far but it's gonna take some saving up.

actually, your wrong, alot of people dont recognize the Z32 because they arent in ricer movies (thank god) but that is what keeps their price down to, which can be good or bad, depending on if your buying or selling. see, the Z32 to me is like the holy grale of cars basically, dont know why, dont even know how, just something about owning one, and especially the TT ever since i drove a couple in great shape, its this unbelievable feeling, and starting out on an NA and then working on the S30 and doing EVERYTHING there practically is to so far, i can look back on the Z32 and realize how i could have done things better and in turn i now want a TT because i feel im ready and i mess the Z32 all together. you however, have never owned one, and want to jump right into a TT, which if you were making 80k a year and lived on your own youd be fine, if you make 30-40k a year and stay with mom you'll be all right, but thats with a career not a job, and in all honesty, getting a Z32 is a cool idea but you jumping into a TT and after seeing you almost loose this job and then almost bailing on the S130's, i just dont want to see the TT getting over your head and it gets re-poed or you cant keep up on the repairs as well becuase you are new to the car and now have to learn on a TT.... just not a good mix in my head, which is why i said if your making good money you can find a Z32 specialist and pay them to do work and just hang around and learn. its basically my instinct and love for the car that i dont want to see it get hurt in any way shape or form whether its your lack of experience or possibility of lack of money. what you need to do, is get out on your own with this new job and then just make your current Z's beautiful, your turning into my one friend who i now hate and all he does is hop job to job screw over all his friends and lives at home and is like 23 now and half the time doesnt have a job, you got an oportunity, dont turn into him, make your money, and get out of the house yo!

Tisk Tisk Snw...you got spunk.

They way you speak of these cars and how it takes SO MUCH MONEY to own it and how it take SO MUCH MONEY to repair them constantly just baffles me. Why would you want one if they are such a money pit, pain in the *** to own car? Are you saying that Nissan poorly engineered these cars and that your knowledge is so vast to the workings of these cars that you can correct Nissan's mistakes essentially redesigning it and making it your own? Come on man, I find it hard to believe that Nissan built these cars so poorly that they need constant repairs just to drive them...if that was the case NOBODY would buy them and nobody would want them. ANY car can be a money pit and the money it would take to correctly restore my '82 Turbo to it's factory state I could own a real nice Z32TT. To me, it is a car worth owning.

Either way, I am going to buy what ever I want because it is for me and it's MY money. If I want to paint it fuchsia pink then I can do that too cause it's for me. You assume because I am changing jobs that I bounce around from job to job...you have no clue what is going on with my employment...the person I worked for lost alot of customers, nothing to do with me so I sought out other means of income after MY hours got cut and I am going up the hill in pay and bettering myself and bettering my position, I am not taking a cut in pay or settling for something less. I am 33 years old and I have been around the block several times, I have been up and I have been down, I have banged more chicks than your car has horsepower, I have street smarts and big ***** and I have more useless knowledge in my head than you could possible fathom. The point is, I am working for what I want.

Snw, I like you, you make me laugh but to say I am not worthy of something or I don't deserve something because of the way you perceive me to be is not cool at all. I would not tell you that you should not have something you want, it is your right to do what you want or to have what you want. If I wanted to I am more than capable of tearing down and rebuilding an engine but I don't have the patients to do so, I am sure I could do anything I set my mind to if that is what is needed. I am sorry your friend is the way he is but I am not him but even if I was it's my life and my choice...you don't have to like it and that is your right but the bottom line is we are all going to do what WE want to do and if you choose to support that then cool, if not well that's cool too. Either way you swing I will support you Snw, cause that's how I roll.

I'm pretty sure there are a lot of people, including people on these forums who aren't making $80k a year living on their own, and can manage to drive and maintain a Z32TT. I hear a lot of people say they require a lot of maintenance, but I've really yet to hear anyone say you have to be rich to own it.

1.because they dont realize that with how much they put into their car, they could have had an ls1 and been over 500WHP with a DD
2.pretty much, there was ALOT of design into the motor, but not enough
3.believe it or not. there are only a small handfull of people who DD their TT's and even then they arent doing more then 200 miles a week, its mainly a weekend grocery getter, plus in another 10 years it will probably suffer the same fate as the z31's did, just a mass drop-off in aftermarket.

never said you dont deserve it, and yes Nismo, think of the price tag on RX-7's and supra's, when fast and the furious came out street reacing got huge for everyone what happened, they went up in price cause everyone and their mother wanted them, these Z32's should be worth that much because they are on par with those cars or better, but tehy arent worth as much and why? publicity. and like i said, im saying you should spend the money better ways or get an NA like i did and learn on that, you have come along way as have i with learning on the S30 and S130's since they are fairly simple and you can access everything easier than many cars. i want a TT because im still young and at home and have already owned a Z32 and know what im getting into, and its not taht they are unreliable cars, its that when they brake, unless you know your stuff its going to cost you soo much money because of the hours of labor a shop will charge you since you have to remove the plenum for so many things. and the TT's are usually, less reliable than the NA's. im not going to stop you and i cant tell you what to do with your money but i can be there and say from my experiences and watching my other friend who is no longer a friend cause of such a loser he is (your not like him at all yet other than living at home still but w/e not a big deal i only described him so you could know what im talking about not comparing him to you) that you should spend your money better than his chump *** does. now i know your not a job hoper but with what happened with your other job you should make sure your far into this one to know its permenant or at least not going to change. take it easy over there. lol. im saying, you would be bettter off going with an NA one and as things occasionally but still rarely break learn on them unless you think you'll have the money for a profesional, then go with teh TT because they will go through parts faster than the NA will and be even a little harder to work on. or get your own place, id take my own place over a TT Z32 any day.plus, with your own place, maybe you can add to the no fewer than 72 with less crazy ones . and i still dont see how you brought banging girls into this. lol. and i am looking out for my fellow Z'er not trying to put him down but its called tough love. id rather not see some one get in over their head and loose a love or let one go to waste.

EDIT: and yeha with what hoov said, they basically built teh car around the motor, instead of getting a motor and putting it in, you can reach down one side or another with one arm more than half a foot. pop the hood on a TT and think of whats gone wrong with all the cars youve owned so far and what it would take to do the repair on a TT instead.unless its spark plugs, its pulling the plenum or pulling the motor. oh and then try to figure out how to pull the plenum, its trickier than it looks.

I like to think I am pretty handy when it comes to cars. I have brought 3 cars back from the brink of destruction...My 1992 RS Camaro was a piece of crap and ran like crap blowing blackish brown smoke like a diesel truck and she would not run very well...it took me no more than a week and she was running like new. My 1982 280zx (gold zx) wouldn't do more than 45 mph and would spit and sputter...took me like 20 minutes to fix that and she ran well again...my 1982 Turbo...Backfireing, cutting off, no power, no speed, broken parts and it took some time and the help from alot of people on this site and guess what, I worked on it and now I can roast my tires all over the place if that's what I want to do...and I do. My 1979 280zx, I wanted to changed the head lights on it and the user manuals said I need to remove body panels...not true, I found an easier way and it was quick and effective. The only thing that would keep me from working on my Z32TT would be lack of tools or knowledge, both of which can be rectified by purchasing tools and acquiring knowledge.

There are reasons why things break and it is a chain of events most of the time, especially on cars. Most people that do a "tune up" on their higher mileage cars over look one of the most important things to replace. They will get spark plugs, spark plug wires, caps and rotors, PCV's, change the oil and most likely be done with it. Sure the car may run better but it's not done. The #1 cause of computer controlled car having bad gas mileage and not running correctly is not replacing the O2 sensors...most people don't even think about them and never change them and over time your car will break. Other things that are overlooked is the EGR, charcoal canister, belts and other fluids. I have never heard anybody tell me that they need to have their differential fluid changed and have only had a few people say they were going to change their tranny fluid.

It is just my observation that people tend to blame the car as being expensive for upkeep when chances are it is simple things overlooked that were not replaced as they should be that cause people to think the way they do. By the mid 1990's computer controlled cars had come a long way and the computers were leaps and bounds better than our early 80's 280's computers. My friend has had 6 or 7 early 90's 5.0 Mustangs...all computer controlled and all with O2 sensors and NEVER had the upkeep that has been described or deemed necessary for the Z32tt's, why, because as soon as he got these used cars he brought them to me and we went to the parts store and got everything for a FULL tune up even if we thought it didn't need it, O2's and EGR's were always on the list no matter what.

My point is, the Japanese make fine cars and the Z32's are one of those cars. The only thing I will do is look for one that hasn't been messed with or messed with very little or as near stock as I can find one, hopefully from someone smart enough to have kept all it's service records and when I get it I will do my thing and should be fine for years of daily driving.

Snw, I bring up the banging chicks cause I am letting you know I am not mad and I am still chipper....oh and because I have slept with more chicks than you

you think that now, but you'll find out the Z32 likes to spit parts at you from time to time and nothinig youcould have done about it. specially injectors with the earlier models. and if you do get one, better get one that just had the 60k done, know what that is? know how its done? look it up, most TT's for sale are usually around their first or second need of the 60k. and also look up the plenum pull because if an injector goes on you, it needs to get pulled. and for a tune up on the cars, its coil on plug design, look at the price on one of those when they go out, same with injectors. just curious if you have ever looked under the hood of one IN PERSON, or looked up the common problems/60k service and the prices. because you have never once talked about a Z32 and all of a sudden, you got this new job and now you want want want. i didnt get mine for over a year and a half of research and waiting, started when i was 15 and bought mine when i was 17. and i honestly worked almost full time and only had enough money to barely pay off my parents the money they lent me for it, and gas, and at one point a girlfriend, then i lost compression in one of the cylinders after replacing and injector and the entire suspension set up as well as tires, all within the same 6 months.

oh and many people would look at banging alot of women as shallow, empty, and making you a womanizer, not something to brag about unless with your closest friends. lol. also its a quik way to get dirty/STD's yo.
