82 ZX feels weird after smog

I took my car to get smoged and after I got it bak it feels weird. It feels like it's shakes a lot. If I let it idle I feel like it will die. It doesn't die but idles around 700rpm.
Ant ideas of what's wrong

I haven't touched it since smog. What should I check. How can I adjust the timing?

I imagine they just turned down the timing to get it to pass.

You can download the FSM here: www.xenons130.com/reference

On a stock 280zx non turbo, the timing is set to 8*.

I have a non turbo. Is there any way to do it without a timing light?

You can... but you'll never get it set dead on.

Just rotate the dizzy clockwise or counterclockwise until it runs better. Or, just borrow a neighbor's timing gun, or drive on down to your local parts shop as they should have one you can rent or borrow in the parking lot. =)

A timing light would also be a good investment for you, since you can get a basic one for about $15-$20.
