Howdy!
I have been reading the forums for about 3 weeks trying to figure out why my car won't start. When I turn the key, I hear the fuel pump buzzing, and I did hear clicking, but no longer hear the clicking. I just bought a brand new starter.. The ignition switch doesn't seem to have any corrosion. It has a brand new battery and terminals. I am getting power in the relays, if I pull them out and plug them in I can hear them clicking. If I disconnect the ignition fusible link, I don't get the fuel pump sound, so I'm pretty sure the fusible link is fine. The starter cranks if the starter is jumped, but the car wasn't starting. Could it be flooded? The engine ran fine before a recent snow storm, but was running very rich and had issues cold starting, it also had to crank for a while before it would start.. but now it won't even buzz or crank at all.. Frustrating lol..
Thanks,

If you think it is flooded disconnect the fuel pump and hold the gas pedal to the floor while cranking it. if you get a couple pops then yes flooded. do it a couple of times. reconnect fuel pump cross fingers.
okay, I will try that tomorrow, but would that cause the starter to not get power/not crank? I would think it would be something between the ignition switch and the starter.. but I just have no idea what else to check..
Thanks a lot for the quick reply,

I haven't got a chance to disconnect the pump and see if it was flooded yet, replaced the ignition switch which didn't do anything.. I am still not getting any power to the starter it seems.. Is it possible it could be a fusible link for the ignition? Can these burn out and not be visible?

Well, we got it. I redid some wires that the previous owner had spliced into the ignition for an aftermarket alarm and starter kit. Also the M/T wire for the starter was completely covered in tape so it wasn't yellow anymore and I located that which I guess had gotten tucked under something.. So its running again.. just need to get the cold start issue fixed now cause it took a bit of cranking and a little gas to get it to run, but its working now. lol.
Thanks for the quick responses!

Was it a "code alarm" brand lmao drove me nuts too only way it would start was to disconnect the battery with key on! Did it for months just to find I cut the ground while I re did the stereo =)
