5 zcars only one runs....rant

Kinda sux.

2 83zxts, one auto, one manual.
1 83na. gave to fubar...you are in my prayers...in Iraq......I hope you stay safe...so that really doesn't count
1 early model 260z---240ish ran hot last summer won't start.
1 81na. black perfect dash, perfect body panels to salvage for my black 83zxt. Some one elses resto that ran out of money, new front fenders, headlight bucket and a perfect, and I mean perfect dash..offered salvage price, 200. dollars...vaccum leaks are its problem...you NA guys have it good! The NA is way easier to fix, I figure to take what I need, and sell this car for a profit? Any Z car guys around Memphis? I thought so....

Set of 16" Panasport wheels new in boxes....1 I took out to keep next to my 52" Sony HDTY. Looks good there! Needs Goodyear Eagle F1 GS D3 tires to go on my less than 100k black 83zxt....the car I bought to gut for the 260???
Too nice a car for that.

8600 dollars resto so far parts price only, includes all new underneth car, new wheel bearings out to new poly bushings in suspension, new brake lines new rotors, new ceramic pads, new power rack and pinion steering box.
Tokico lowering springs and shocks....0 mile car....everything new and upgraded from stock....

add

Jim Wolf 450hp package....pallnet fuel rail yada, yada,.....

So now, replacing the head gasket, the timing cover gasket the oilpan gasket, basically where I was 3 years ago, I'll only say

That if you want it done right, you better do it yourself.

Replacing gaskets:

Getting the oilpan off is a major bitch with it still in the car....

Lift the engine off the mounts, take off the ac compressor and brackets [yes my car has automatic airconditioning]
jack up tranny, take off oil pan pickup, you know, the screen and uptake tube for the lubrication system.....which is the bitch of my post....
I had to take it out to get the oil pan out....and when I went to reinstall this I realized iit had NO GASKET!
So what?
I learned that if you want the job done right you have to do it yourself.

My ramblings after drinking a pint of Jim Beam...

Nissan head gasket and new Nissan head bolts to install later, and it will be right.
kenny.

Hello, another day at hard work. Landscaping....

Talked to the guy who rebuilt the head...told him the problem. He said to chase the head.

There might have been debris there. Which would prevent you from getting proper torque...

Told me how he would do it. Take old head bolt, use your grinder to cut a slot alongside the treads. I cut a old bolt and will measure to be sure no debris is present.

I will start putting the engine back together tomorrow and I'll let you all know how it turns out.

When I first fired her up, it sounded so deep and powerful and with an intake fitting off, she boost at a low rpm....gotta finish the job.

Jim Wolf called me and offered help on getting her up and running.

Customer support years after I purchased the package.

kenny.
