280ZX (NA) to 280ZX Turbo swap
I never did post pics off my BOV.
The venting BOV sounded great but I couldn't hook up the vacuum line or the vacuum would hold it open at idle constantly and would be a major leak.
I removed it and got this Silvia BOV from a friend. He said it is what came on his SR20DET clip. He has a nice $200 BOV
anyway, I hooked it up and had the same problem. So I connected it recirculating as shown.
At idle I'm sure its open, but it sucks in air from before the turbo but after the AFM so the mixture is still fine. Then when it gets near zero vacuum it should close. Under boost I assume the pressure in the line keeps it closed. I also crushed it quite a bit to keep it closed.
I can hardly ever hear it venting except in 1st and 2nd gear. I think after that the road noise drowns it out. I wonder though at full boost if sometimes it is being forced open. It would end up moving the air in a circle and just over-spinning the turbo... but I can't really tell.
I'm not getting that great of gas milage anymore but I really don't drive the car hard all that much. out of boost I should be getting good economy... Z31 ECU swap?

I don't know whas going on w/ your BOV tho... they should stay closed until there is a + pressure surge in the charge pipe (when you close the TB just after boosting). With the BOV out of the car, if you try to push the diaphram up w/ your finger, it should have quite a bit of resistance. Your vacuum line looks like it's hooked up to the manifold port behind the TB right?
it had some resistance but I could push it up. At idle the vacuum line had enough vacuum to pull the BOV open. That's the problem. I crushed the unit to increase the spring pressure inside but even so it would still open. So I recirculated it so it pulled air from behind the AFM.
The line is hooked up to the middle of the intake manifold completely behind the throttle body. It works for now.
I'll get an adjustable one later.

I'm getting 17/18 mpg overall. Not sure on highway milage. Probably not all that good. Car idles great, starts up good, doesn't smell funny..
but there is kind of a wavy power fluctuation under boost sometimes. I still have wastegate issues though... I won't worry about it too much now.
I'm gonna get the Pulsar on the road, then do the intercooler, better BOV, and Z31 ecu swap. We'll see how it goes then.

cool, hopefully i can make it to cali, nismo blew my radiator hose.
but it's cool, now i gotta change the fluid but of course the shop, doesn't have my part and i gotta wait. nows wheres my money 619, someone live by him and like to hunt.
