280ZX Fuel Leak

Hello,

I recently purchased a 1980 280zx and have found that its leaking fuel. This is my first ever project car and I am a little intimidated by this and kind of just want some advice on how to get this repair done efficiently. I attached some pictures of where I believe the leak is coming from.

Thanks in advanced guys!

Welcome to ZDriver!

That's the fuel filter... most likely just a loose clamp or split hose. Time to inspect.

Make sure you download the FSM: http://www.xenonzcar.com/s130/fsm.php it has literally everything you need to get the car repaired properly. And search through the forum for awesome write-ups and how-to's.

Thank you! I just downloaded and flipped right to it. I noticed that when I turn the car on, fuel begins to pump out the top of the filter, would replacing it solve this issue? The FSM isn't super clear on it.

Thanks again!

If it's leaking, yes, replace it.

Exactly. Make sure you buy the more expensive fuel hose made for fuel injection.
Don't get low pressure fuel hose made for carb engines.

I just replaced the fuel filter on my ZX. Its a somewhat easy job.
