hello everyone.....i am new to the forum and have a question.....I have a 1982 280zx turbo which is in good shape......I have a problem which could be an easy answer for this forum......my charge light stays on when I turn off the key........the light goes off when I turn on the car and start the engine.....the engine fires right up no problems....isn't it supposed to work the other way......any ideas.....please e-mail me at jhn.lister@gmail.com.....i will also watch this forum for answers......thanks

 

Do any of your other accessories stay on while the car is off? It almost sounds like power could be on for part of the dash wiring even with they car off.

Also check the alternator.

 

It may be the alternator.........no other accessories stay on......all accessories work correctly
