Welcome to ZDriver!

If all relays are getting power, check the wiring. Also try grounding the fuel pump direct to body instead of back to the harness to see if that will complete the circuit.

I do not have new fuel pump yet. I tried checking power from the wires and nothing. Does a 1980 have a shutoff switch in it? Once i get it running I am bringing it to the shop so it can get put on a lift.(advantages of working at a car dealership). I am not really versed on this brand of car. I do love it though.

yes the shutoff switch is operated by a key in the ignition. hot wire the pump and see it it is even operable.

Yes pump works by hotwiring it. Do you know where the switch is located?
Any help will be greatly thanked.

Where is Alma in relation to Heber Springs or Bryant. I may be able to stop by and help you fix this one. I bet your car is the one I stopped and asked about a while back. I'm hunting a donor body, if you know where to get one I would be extremely grateful.

Power to the relays is agood thing but that doesn't mean that the relays are functioning. You need power FROM the relay to the pump to get it to run. Make sure that the relay is the right one, that it is being pulled in and that all of the contacts are clean and exists. If all that's good the ring out the wires from the relay to the pump. You may find a chewed wire or corroded harness somewhere.

Alma is damn far from Heber and Bryant. You are in the best place for enjoying your Z. The mountains there are pure driving enjoyment. Check out the Arkansas Z Car Club too. We love newbies. Makes us feel superior...

Alma is off I-40 about 10 miles west from the oklahoma border. probably about a 2-3 hr. drive. I know of a place that has a gutted body in his yard. I believe it is a 81. I also know of a 79 that is for sale for $1500. I got mine for free so I do not mind spending a little to get it running. I will post pics when I get a chance. Took 4 hours to clean the tank and sender. It was full of fuel. looked like turpintine when I got it out. Wife still smells it from the garage.LOL
