1979 280zx N/A running rough and no power under load.
Just recently acquired my 1979 280zx with automatic transmission, it has been tinkered with a little and there is some random wiring and such under the hood. I have been fixing that.
The car is running rough and seems to be having some issues. It idles rough and kinda spits and coughs, when you give it throttle while in park it will rev nicely. When it is being driven it won't accelerate and seems to stutter, pop, backfire, and almost die. Getting to 40mph is very difficult. The motor seems to have no power. I have replaced all the vacuum lines, new spark plugs, new fuel filter.
My best guess right now is I need a new fuel pump, it is making a lot of noise, almost hard to talk over before the car starts. That is on order, is there anything else I haven't thought of?
