78' 280z wont stay running under load

i got a 78 280z no turbo. starts idles fine can go down the road and the motor acts like its fuel loading then flooding out. i gotta rev the engine alot and work the clutch to keep it from dieing. i have 30+ fuel psi, new MAF, just installed a inine fuel filter between tank and fuel pump, new fuel regulator, alternator checked out good and the battery is good to. had the injectors cleaned and rebuilt. if anyone has any ideas to help it would be very appriciated.

Welcome to ZDriver.

I'd start with checking the 2prong square coolant temp sensor in your thermostat housing. Check the connection, wires, and ohm test.

Also, what's the timing set to?
Have you pulled the spark plugs to read the tips?
Have you downloaded the FSM for free from XenonS30 ?

so i checked my spark plugs and they all are burning the normal brown/gray except cylinder 3 was kinda carbon up but not bad enough to fowl it out. All the plugs were covered in gas. should i check my cold start valve?

I havent found the issue yet i had to park the car because of house construction. later this month im gonna check for a flat camshaft to look for a flat lobe. if that aint it im considering an engine swap.

do your cars have a hard time cold starting and my fuel pressure in the lines will drop over night to about 5 psi. my fuel pump wont prime either when i turn the key to "on" position.

I had the exact same problem I went thru all the fuel components till I checked my gas tank and it was all rusted inside so I figured the lines are all clogged up. Took it off sent it to a shop to get cleaned and I put injector cleaner thru the lines and put air pressure in the lines and sure enough dirt come out. Now the car is running smooth wont die off anymore
