ZX is dumping power steering fluid
So, my car is dumping all the fluid out of the rack, It looks like it is coming from somewhere around the boot of the power steering thing that moves the wheel, I can't think of what it is called. Anyway I have sprung a leak, it hasn't happened before but now it just dumps fluid. Any help?
I have the same issue!
the fluid loss on the leak (coming from inside the boot on the drivers side) is enough to empty the reservoir leaving it overnight, other than that it works just fine. about how much is it to have it fixed? or can i just add some leak sealant to fix or reduce the leak while i get the money to get it fixed? would that make it worse when rebuilding it?
A few years ago, I bought a new rack from an import shop. I believe it was $165 or so. I bought it back in '07 when I first got my '82 slicktop. Also remember to use Dextron III transmission fluid in the power steering system. I thought I had leaks until I realized regular power steering fluid was causing the problem. I haven't had any more leaks since I changed to the correct fluid. It is in your FSM, and repair manual.
