Hey, I'm new to the site, Whats up, Cool to see z drivers, anyway I have a 1981
280zx Turbo, now I was looking at the T5 Borg-Warner trans and It is said that is fits in a 82,83, Now mine is a 81 and they have the same engine right? so can mine fit on that trans, because internet research is geting imposable, PLEASE anyone with a 81 help me out. I am really looking for a 5 speed manual because I ab using the auto in it right now that I beleive is 3 speed ...lame right.. so if anyone could e mail me that would me great Master_Sememmon@hotmail.com

use the zdriver search dude, it works great and there is a crap load of stuff on this subject. and yeah thatll fit in your car, there all the same in that area, just make sure you have the correct flywheel, i think its a 2 seater one

your also going to need the T5 drive shaft... i dont think the non turbo drive shafts work for the T5

 

The only reason you wont find the T5 listed for the 81 turbo is that in 81 the turbo cars ONLY came with an automatic trans. No manual trans was offered that year for the turbo cars.
