Transmission advice
Ok guys Im in need of some advice here. I burned out the stock automatic on my 280zx. Not wanting to do the whole 5spd swap seeing as how its hard to find a good t-5 and all the conversion parts and I need my car I decided to just replace the automatic so I ordered a 3n71b from a japanes engine and trans shop in nj. they said they were positive the tranny came from a 280zx but they didnt know if it was a turbo or non turbo auto. When the tranny came in i checked the numbers on the tranny and the model is a 3n71b but the serial is x2771....they dont list a x2771 as a type for a turbo or a non turbo in the haynes manual. the tranny is from japan, and is from a rhd car, could this affect the numbers? they list the turbo as a x2770 and the n/a as a x2707. So where did this x2771 come from? I suspect this tranny is from a n/a 280zx due to the output shaft size. so my two questions here are: Anyone ever seen the serial number x2771 on a 280zx transmission and will a n/a transmission bolt right in to a trurbo 280zx?

yea i pulled the driveshaft and just as i thought the spline shaft is too big. im gonna haver to have a custom driveshaft made for the car using a 2.5'' yolk and a hook up for a r-200 dif. unless i can find a diveshaft from a n/a 2 seater with a mt, then it will bold right in.
