I just got a 1996 nissan 300zx na 2+2 three weeks ago and today the airbag light started turning off and on. Would anybody know why?

 

Probably the clock spring in the steering wheel. Do some searching - I've never replaced or diagnosed one on a Z32 (my Blazer's airbag light frequently comes on, and I know it's the clock spring).

 

Airbag systems are very sensitive. If any one module malfunctions, the airbag light will illuminate. A usual culprit for many cars is the passenger seat occupancy sensor. In your case, I'm not sure what a flashing light means though. Any info in the FSM? Maybe you could get your hands on an air bag scanner tool?

 

I don't think he means flashing, I think he means it's intermittent. (How important word choice can be.... thus reinforcing my stance that people need to read more and stay in school.)

 

Yeah sorry about that, its like slow flashes comes on and then off a second later.

 

"Flashing" suggests a constant on-off-on-off-on-off at a consistent rate. Now, is it flashing, or does it come on intermittently (RANDOMLY on and off, at a non-consistent rate... just comes on and goes off sometimes).
