Are these pans/frame badly damaged?

Hey all,

I'm a longtime 280zx fan and I am a classic car guy and I do my own work on my vehicles. I am ready to pull the trigger on a 280zx, and I have found a candidate but despite my exhaustive research, I am inexperienced with 280zxs compared with other cars. I am most concerned with the floorpans and frame rails. I have taken pictures of the undercarriage of the car I am interested in.

Can anyone tell me if this car should be avoided or if the damage is minimal? I have posted the photos to a gallery in my profile called "underside."

The owner wants $4k for the car...It is a 5-Speed with 102K miles and the digital instrument panel.

Thanks for your time.

Looks pretty normal... and whoever put that car on the lift is an idiot (hopefully it wasn't you ).

$4k is really high unless it's a turbo model (doesn't look like it from those pics). Usually you can score a 280zx n/a for $1k-$2k in decent shape.

Thats alot for that car unless like Nismo said its a 5speed turbo. What you should be worried about is the rust where that damage is at.

Are you referring to that damage in the upper left corner of the floorpan in the top photo that looks like it has a weird patch job done on it?

i wouldnt pay for that car, the rear floors are rotted out. if you have skills to weld in new pieces, then no biggie as far as the rott, ive done that patch several times on customers cars. yeah the way its on the hoist is dangerous and can cause some damage to the fenders, pinch welds, and bodywork. shoulda lifted it by the frame rails. you can lift a honduh that wayu there tho, they have special points for that there. up here a n/a or turbo stock goes for 3500-10,000. but you are luck in the states, 1-2k in good shape. may want to look for cars in other states as well.
