Please help starter issue

I just swapped trannys to manual and got everything in and lubed and ready to go now the car won't start. Starter's good but i'm thinking the inhibiter switch is is what's keeping me from going anywhere. Any ideas? and where do i find the inhibiter switch .... i don't see its location in any diagram.

OK, I'll play ignorant, I don't know what a "inhibitor switch" is, or where it is. How about telling us just exactly what does or does NOT happen when you try to start.

The inhibitor switch "inhibits" the car from starting when the auto tranny is in gear.

feifong, Our member FubarI33t mentioned somewhere on here that he either disconnected the wiring from the inhibitor switch, or looped it so the 2 wires connected to each other. I can't remember which... lemme search for it.

sounds like a neutral safety switch, and that would do it...

i know on an E-brake inhibitor switch for a civic (its just a reference so dont ask lol) we had to ground it in order for it to act like the brake was pulled up. however on my talon, the clutch inhibitor switch is simply unplugged and acts as if the clutch is pushed in. and unplugging it wont hurt anything so if you cant remember, take the 30 seconds and go unplug it and see if that does the trick, if not, new idea. lol. can't beat those results.

and hurray for nono not knowing an inhibitor switch and safety switch are the same thing! his genius at work again.

When I changed the my Volvo (RIP) from an auto to a manual, I had to tie two wires together as Pick said. It also caused me plenty of headaches later when it grounded out since the Volvo's should not be grounded (acted like it wasn't tied together/not in Neutral).

OOOOOOOOOOH i do have this to add.

the civic one that we grounded was a single wire inhibitor switch where as the talon is a dual wire one. either way seems like when the inhibitor switch is released it opens a circuit. and if it is a single wire one then the only thing it has to go off of is ground (what it is mounted to) and if it has two wires then its using something else. can't believe something so simple like that slipped my mind.
