newbie, started a auto manual swap

like i said i'm new here, i used another forum, but they never answered any of the questions i had so i decided to come here. i just started the auto to stick swap. took me a while to get the auto out and first thing tomorrow i'll be puttin in the manual tranny, i just had a couple question the manual has a plug lookin thin on it which i'm assumin goes to the reverse lights, what from the car hooks up there? and i have on the same side as the speed cable i have a hole that looks like somethin goes in there does anybody know what that is, and last one kinda of stupid but how do you put the gear oil in? thanks for all your help

The auto should also have wires hooked up to it. One of those is for the reverse lights. The auto may have more wires than the 5-speed though for the ECU to tell when the auto is in neutral or park, ect. You will need to identify the correct wire for reverse or put 12v power to each one and have someone tell you when the backup lights come on.

I'm not sure exactly what the "hole" is that you're talking about on the passenger side of the transmission.

To fill up the gear oil, on the driver's side there should be a 1" diameter plug. the center section has a recessed square. Stick the end of a 1/2 inch drive breaker bar (or ratchet) into the square to unscrew it. (not socket, just the square end fits perfectly in there) That is your fill hole. You fill it with fluid untill it starts to drain out.

thanks for your help, i didn't get to finish it on my two days off but i think i will be able to get it on my next 2 i just forgot to grease the main shaft so it would just slide in.

I dont advise puttimg much grease onto the main shaft as it will heat up and be slung off and on to your clucth..............

have you installed the pedals yet? i recently did mine and i found that its close to impossible to install the pedals alone.

yeah i got the whole setup from a guy all you do is unbolt the whole entire package from the firewall and it should just slip right on out.

its a little bit more indepth than just bolt it in i had to remove my whole dashboard in order to get to some of the bolts

oh sorry i forgot about that, i try to block out all the bad stuff, i had to take out the cluster, it was a pain.
