Mark,
I don't know if you are still trying to get it started. Since it looks as though 6 weeks has passed.
I am currently rebuilding my daughter's 81 280zx NA, and we have a spare ECU if you want to try it. I think the '81 ECU will work in an '83 if the engine is an L28E.
I am up in Cedar Park (just above Austin) if you want to give it a try. Send me a message and I'll give you my contact information, and details on how to get up here.

thats a bit extreem, for a no fire problem. I don't think it will be the ECU, as the computer dosn,t have to do with firing. it would be more along the lines of ignition module.

yea just to let you guys know Im still here. Tried wiggleing the connections. Even took the ecu off and apart to see if I see noticeable burnt parts on the board, nothing yet, going around with ohm meter..Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Hey underneath the distributor by the conector is that lil black wire that hucks up to a prong on the distributor shaft make sure that is connected cause that problem happened to me before the wire came off and I had nothing, my friend saw it and asked why it was disconnected and I put it on the prong and it fired right up. just a thought though....
Just to let yall know, I did find 1 resistor bad, 1 diode bad, and 1 IC bad, these are all cheap parts,,I will replace them here soon and see what happens. better than 200$ with a 90$ core !?

Have you tested the ignition module to see if it is ok. My mechanic friend has a tester for them. That's what it has always been on mine when it wouldn't fire. I pick them up form the junkyard whenever I find them to keep for a spare.
