the fuel pump relay is under the passenger side of the dashboard. Remove the glove box and you've got free access to it. The fuel pump modulator is located under the drivers side of the dash. Just remove the lower dash panel and the side kickpanel and its right there. The relay provides power to the pump. The modulator regulates how much power goes to the pump. If either one takes a crap or stops getting power then fuel pump no workie

none of that stuff has anything to do with the fuel pump. However, if you shorted a circuit there it could have taken out a fuse link or fuse that the fuel pump, or one of its circuits relies on.

I have mine wired so that the ignition switch directly controls my newly rewired relay. I just ran a power source to the relay via the fuse box, and then on to the fuel pump. I then wired the ignition switch to control the power to the relay. I also wired in a kill switch cause listening to that fuel pump humming when the car is not running can get annoying.

you can power the pump directly via a switch, just make sure you run a fuse inline.

If you are going to rewire your fuel pump, DO NOT just run a wire from the battery to the fuel pump!

Do as J has done & wire up a relay to control it.

20amps is fine.

As long as the toggle switch can handle it then a relay really isnt necessary. Just dont run anything else off of that switch. But use a heavy duty toggle switch so you dont burn it out. Thats the really on the only reason relays are used: To protect protect switch's. (in some cases its to reduce the amount of heavy gauge wiring necessary) Once the relay is switched on all you have, basically, is a wire running from the battery to the fuel pump. As long as its fused then a battery to switch to fuse to pump circuit is not going to hurt anything.

But using a relay is far preferable for longevity purposes. I just found it more convenient to have use a relay and have the ignition switch act as my on/off.

If the rain was really heavy and there was a lot of standing water, check the distributor cap for moisture and dry out the electrical connectors to the injectors. It could be just excess moisture disrupting the connections.
