j30/z32 vlsd in 280ZX?
j30/z32 vlsd in 280ZX?
What would it take to put a j30 or z32 vlsd into my 280ZX? Would I mount the entire unit to my subframe, or just transfer the internals into my stock case? I have a 10mm R200 currently.
From what I've seen about putting z31 lsd in, I believe I would only use the j30/z32 internals.
Thanks, rxKaffee

You might be able to transfer the carrier only if the bearing size is the same, but you still have to use the J30 cv shafts, as it has a different spline count than that 280zx R200. Which means you'll have to make adapters to connect the J30 cv's to your 280zx hubs... if they are even close to the same length. Some people have done it, but it takes enough $$$ and time, that it's easier to just find & swap in a Z31T LSD.
Which bearing do you mean? I'm wanting to swap, both for the j30/z32's larger capacity for cooling, and so that I can put a Kaaz unit in at a later date.
I would also like to swap to a 5lug setup in the rear, but haven't looked ath info on that recently enough to know how it will affect cv and spline stuff.
I've looked for some z31T parts, but they've been very difficult to locate, even for parts in not such high demand as the LSD.

One on each side of the carrier.

You can buy a Powerbrute for $550 ( http://www.precisiongear.com/powerbrute.htm )
Nismo makes one for about $750
Quaife makes one for about $1700
They might not be as cheap as what you could get the J30 diff for, but it's much less time consuming, nerve racking, realistic, & possible.

If you're talking about the Z32 maf, it should be an orange sticker with 3p000 or something like that on there. I believe N62 should be on there as well. If the sticker is yellow, that's the Q45 maf and not the right one. Those read N60 or some other letter/number combo.
